I'd assume it could. If wards can be used to keep Halloween's revenants out, I don't see why they wouldn't work for anybody else. ( but she will need to ask palamedes before answering with any more certainty than that. )
As for Eddie talking to the Captain, I don't have a specific outcome in mind. I want to see what would happen.
( though she does recognize that's not very helpful, and thinks it'd be great to get steve on her level of thinking so he could be another voice of encouragement in eddie's ear. )
Any time I've talked to him, I've gone at him straight on. Same with Friday. It's not always the most productive approach, and I don't think it's entirely wrong to take a leaf out of Skulduggery's book. Talk to the Captain like a person, offer to play a game since we know he likes them, listen and ask follow up questions. I think Eddie's baseline is kind, and that he's smart enough to do that.
I also acknowledge that he's scared, and that's completely reasonable and understandable. But I don't think the Captain would look at him and think he's any sort of threat.
yeah see he likes to talk like he's a coward but he isn't. not even close.
[ he could go on, he could definitely wax poetic about how eddie is one of the bravest people he knows, but he'll spare clarke this time. ]
i can talk to him. i'll see what he plans to do.
i don't love knowing that the captain could already be expecting him but i guess there's not much to worry about if he's just a misunderstood guy who loves games and friendship right?
I think it's more a matter of the Captain could literally see us roll up with canons and pitchforks, and not bat an eye. He's been at this for how many hundreds of years?
( literally no disrespect to eddie, if anything she thinks that confidence coupled with the other hawkins boy's traits could get them miles beyond this stuck-point. )
We're insignificant to him. But mosquitos are just pests until you remember they can carry lethal diseases, right?
[ yeah. insignificant. that's exactly why steve won't ever buy the bullshit that the captain just needs friends and love and someone to play games with him because he's simply a misunderstood angel of a creature who made mistakes.
the more he thinks about it, the more the game show felt like the captain had gathered his trained zoo animals to put on a show.
steve can't imagine why ava thinks it's genuine. desperation, maybe. people all deal with shit in their own way.
but!
anyway!
dungeons and dragons, you say? well, allow steve harrington to roll up his sleeves and explain something he definitely knows a lot about. ]
( months ago, the captain had said to her face that they were no better than gas cans.
"i never sat down and talked to a can of gasoline to tell it how it was going to burn."
"...can cans of gasoline talk back in your world."
no, and we don't go around falling in love with them!
this all feels grossly complex, and while clarke doesn't air on the side of invalidating the romantic feelings between their captor and friendly neighborhood skeleton, she does think that's ultimately more gas on the fire instead of a fire safety extinguisher. ava and darcy out here professing that love will save them all, when all clarke's seen is love getting people hurt and fracturing alliances beyond repair. the lover of my enemy is my —

can warding a room keep ava out?
[ that's the big one. as for that last point — ]
if eddie said he'll talk to the captain i know he'll do it. what are you hoping comes from it?

i think you make up a character and then you pretend you're that character
kind of like a play? but it's a game
a lot of dice are involved
i mean a lot of dice
i don't really know anything about it

With a little bit of math? Or chance, I guess.
But no, that's perfect. If it's just playing out a collaborative story together, that's what I wanted. I really think he should try it.

yeah it's make believe. you should really ask eddie if you want to know more.
but ok sure. like i said i'll talk to him. we'll see where it goes.
[ he's not about to like force eddie to go play a game with the captain if he doesn't want to or anything but he'll deffo bring it up ]

Okay. Let me know if you need help.
( bc what 19 year old girl hasn't lovingly bullied her friends into dangerous situations? o...oh, wait, is that not normal? )
