[Sure, Rita's the sort to get easily embarrassed when it comes to sentimentality, but Clarke's still right on the money that this isn't just that kind of fluster. Later, she's going to look back on her own words and have a very sleepless night of what why where when how is there is a formula for this she can answer to figure it out-

For now, though, the moment of embarrassment passes, and they agree that nobody hurts Natsuno. Ever.]

Right--sure. I guess...let me know if he manages to combine some magic with it. [Even if he seems too insufferable for her to tolerate collaborating with him...the possibility is still interesting enough that she'd at least like to know whether or not it works out. And...speaking of nobody hurting Natsuno, Rita's mouth thins into a grim line. She'd never forgive Jinx for driving him to death.]

...I haven't seen that freak either. [Oh, look how totally not-disappointed she is about that!] Think she's gone for good?

( it's a weird topic for parts of her to be at war over. clarke begrudges every disappearance, as it's a reminder of the fact any of them could slip away and just be gone the next day. it's a reminder that bellamy is steeped in the nothingness that had consumed a good chunk of them just last month, and there's no way she can get to him. it's a reminder that the impermanence of death isn't a guaranteed safety net against oblivion, and that the afterlife here sucks and would drive anyone insane.

...but also it's jinx. one of clarke griffin's top three points of concern among the passengers here. natsuno's stalker, no matter how easily the blue haired girl had waved off that implication. same teen who'd threatened to fill clarke with enough holes that she'd resemble a fishnet stocking and, most tellingly, not one of her friends.

the latter side wins out. this is as close to a good thing as the situation could possibly present. )

God, I hope so.

( if this sentiment makes clarke a bad person, she at least doesn't expect ridicule and judgement in the company of rita mordio. this is what they mean by surrounding yourself with quality people who'll prop you up at your lowest, right? )

[Yeah, the nothing was horrifying in its emptiness, and she could say that nobody deserves to be there for eternity.

But she can also say they're way better off without certain people, and Jinx's harrassment of Natsuno shot her straight to the top of Rita's shitlist. Promising Natsuno she wouldn't start a fight doesn't mean she can't actually be glad she's gone.

So, yeah, Clarke is not getting any judgement whatsoever on that sentiment. It's the total opposite instead.]

Yeah, if I never see her again, it'll still be too soon!

( if clarke actually ever set about making a memorial for the dead — their dead, the passengers from their cruise who'd vanished; not the ones from past voyages who'd come back to haunt them like darcy'd done — jinx's name would still go on the board.

but no energy would be wasted putting folded paper flowers at her proverbial grave. )

Time will tell on that front. ( because it's not entirely ridiculous to assume jinx could come back, with or without her memories of her time aboard. but for now, all they can do is wait and quietly hope.

right now, clarke is dressed, her new (still ugly) magic armor neatly folded in her arms, and her intent to leave still plain. but for a second she dawdles, still bathed in the warm sentiment of having been given a gift and unsure if it's appropriate to surge forward and give rita a hug of gratitude. on the other girl's end, it probably feels like being looked up and down, assessed for a moment before clarke ultimately just smiles. )

I'll let you know if Pal has any profound thoughts about this. ( shake shake dress. )

[That is a brief, uncomfortable pause, alright. Rita can kind of understand--they don't usually have these sort of...heart-to-heart conversations...but she's on the verge of just demanding what the look is for, only for Clarke to come to some sort of conclusion to whatever was on her mind.

...Well, whatever. A similarly brief pause on Rita's end before she decides not to pursue whatever it is, so she shrugs.]

Right...well, don't get too crazy testing it out. Yuuki'll worry, you know.

[Also she'd really rather not see Clarke's brain bits herself again, either...]

( a slow, slightly bemused smile spreads across her lips. )

Tell him not to. ( it'd been a valiant effort to keep the gentle, friendly ribbing to herself; this bit, spoken with the full confidence that rita'd be able to make natsuno listen, just kinda slips out. ) I'll be fine.

( ...probably. but without any further opportunity to get warned off, clarke's turning to the door. )

Hm...

[It's just a hum of acknowledgement to indicate she heard, though she's chosen not to respond with don't give him a reason to worry in the first place. She's pretty sure she's said enough to get the point across...surely.
