But yeah. I don't think we do have a lot of time. This whole ship and the spiel about relaxing paired alongside the knowledge the Captain just wants us to suffer so he can feed off it? That feels like a ploy to get us complacent before we can properly launch a counter attack. How long until we die enough times that our very being's changed to the point we can never go back home?

( does she know exactly what she's talking about? absolutely not. but has she made enough small scale discoveries that this narrative fills the gaps in her actual knowledge? yup. at the very least — it motivates. )

There's no other reason to resurrect me after I died other than to get to enjoy it all over again. There's no reason he let Rita Mordio go after burning off half her arm other than to watch her suffer her injury, instead of just killing her and having her wake up whole again. There's no reason all of us come from horrible, scary places if we're not going to be asked to live through horrible, scary circumstances all over again.
