[It's been a little while since their last talk. And...a lot came out. Like, a lot a lot. Lots of questions and thoughts swirling around in Diana's head.
Which means she can only imagine what it's been like for Clarke.
She debates the best way to approach this check-in, before deciding to stick with a classic.]
( it's honestly been so long that clarke's wondered if diana finally came to her senses and decided to accept that their buddying up was just for show to assuage stede bonnet. she wouldn't blame the other woman, would probably pretty successfully swallow anything close to hurt feelings down into the pit of her stomach and just keep moving on. but of all the surprises this cursed cruise liner has in store for them, getting a text from diana is the least unpleasant one. )
Exhausted, honestly. That camp outing was a ridiculous waste of time, and I'm no closer to understanding the internal workings of this ship, but. It's fine. I'm fine.
No one died this time. No one was even hurt, from what I saw. It was... weird. Seems like a wasted opportunity, I expected the Captain was going to unleash some sort of serial killer beast while we slept, but literally nothing happened. I don't get it.
( a sudden spark of inspiration hits here. diana had been around a while back on earth, old earth, maybe — )
Yeah, neither scenario is exactly great. The whole story of Highlander is a bunch of immortals going around, cutting off each other's heads until there's only one left standing. Some of the crappiest movie swordplay I've ever seen...
( clarke literally could not give less than a flying fuck about bad cinematic combat, her head is just too full of swirling thoughts about immortality and beheading and just... what.
what is she supposed to do with this information? )
So... yeah, exactly like another Battle Royale.
( but then thinking back more diligently to what she'd read from skulduggery. )
Or there's multiple versions of each of us. Different moments on a timeline.
Our lives... Our worlds just continue. And even though we're trapped here on this ship, we're somehow still back home at the same time, like nothing happened. And if he messes up and brings more than one version of us here, the other just gets erased?
I think you're way outside of my area of expertise. Although I like the fact that there's a version of us back home. Means the people we care about aren't worrying about us. :|
( she's just spitballing. negatively. because what is actual optimism or looking at something potentially good and then not digging further. )
There are powerful people here from power-filled worlds. Maybe it's all a masking technique, so the Captain doesn't arouse suspicion and bring down an otherworldly brigade on his head because he took their friend.
Or maybe he really is just that lazy and incompetent, that he can't focus and bring entire people here.
I need to think more about this. ( what she NEEDS is to find someone who's area of expertise this actually is, because otherwise it's just like jumping in the deep end of the pool and floundering because she doesn't know how to swim. )
But thanks, Diana, you just cleared a huge mystery off the board for me.
( uh oh, caught. called out. it's really a blessing she has no concept of self-care in the middle of a murderboard session and thus hasn't had a drink of water or showered in the last hour, so lying comes easily enough.
a little like. gently obsfucating in an attempt to lessen the alarm. )
Of course not. I'm not planning on doing anything until we know more about him.

Great movie! Fantastic soundtrack!

Best case scenario? We're all immortal now.
Worst...well, there's an expression from the movie: "There can be only one."
no subject
We are more or less immortal now. At least temporarily, until bringing us back to life becomes too much of a hassle for the Captain.
"There can only be one", huh? Like the Battle Royale all over again? Just fight to the last man standing...

I kinda owe you an apology, Clarke

You what?
No. No you don't.

I was...judgy.

Rightfully so, though. I dropped... a lot on you. That you didn't even ask for.
